Beard Care Tips

How to Use Beard Oil

1. Purchase Beard Monster beard oil. (CRUCIAL!)

2. Take the dropper and drop 4-5 drops of oil into the palm of your hand. You may need more if you've got a longer beard. Don't use too much - a little oil goes a long way.

3. Rub the oil between your palms.

4. Work the oil into your dry beard by first combing your fingers through the hair. Start by combing it in upward from the underside of your beard, then by wiping downward.

5. Be sure to massage the oil into the skin under your beard as well, where hydration is crucial.

PRO TIPS

  • The fragrance will last a few hours, but even once it has faded, the oil will still be working. You shouldn't need to apply more than once a day. If you find that your beard is drying out between applications, add a couple more drops next time.
  • The ideal time to apply oil is after a shower, when your beard is nice and clean. Wait until it dries first, though; remember, oil and water don't mix.
  • Beard oil is good for beard of all sizes. Even fledgling beards can benefit from the nutrients in the oil. Vitamin E, in particular, has been shown to promote hair growth, and the natural oils present will combat the itchy, dry skin that often causes would-be beardsmen to reach for the razor.

How to Use Beard Balm

1. Purchase Beard Monster beard balm.

2. Using the back of your thumb, scrape out a thumbnail sized portion of balm.

3. Smear the balm into your palm, and rub it between your hands. The balm should melt pretty easily between your palms. Make sure you don't leave any solid chunks or flecks of balm before applying!

4. Apply the balm as you would the oil, by first combing your fingers up through your beard, then wiping them back down again.

5. Once the balm is worked into your beard, you should be able to do a little shaping. You can do this with a brush or comb, or simply by using your fingers. Some basic shaping should be easy to achieve with your hands, and with a bit of smoothing you should see the more wily hairs of your beard brought to bear!

PRO TIPS

  • Beard balm offers the same benefits as beard oil, with the added bonus of providing some hold. It's better for more established beards. If your beard is particularly coarse and dry, consider using a beard oil as well. It's concentrated, and will grant more hydration and nutrition for your hair and skin.

  • You can use both oil and balm as the same time, to get the best of both worlds! There is oil in the balm, so if you use both, consider using a smaller amount of oil, lest ye become to greasy!

How to Use Mustache Wax

  1. Scrape about a thumb nail of wax.
  2. Rub wax between index fingers until melted (no clumps).
  3. First work the wax into the underside of your mustache. Then into the top side.
  4. Using a mustache comb, comb the wax into your mustache hair. The trick is to get it evenly distributed. Brush sideways, outward.
  5. Twist the ends to get that nice curl.
  6. If you want more curl, add a bit more wax to the ends of your stache.

Pro Tips

  • Mustache wax needs to be reapplied every now and then. That's why it comes in such a small tin - it's pocket sized. Keeping it in your pocket also keeps it close to your body, giving it body heat throughout the day and keeping it soft and semi-melted. When you need to apply on the go, you'll be able to just rub your finger on the top of the wax, similar to using a tin of lip balm.
  • Mustache combs are absolutely crucial.
  • There is such a thing as too much wax. When you're working your handlebar mojo, be sure you don't put too much wax, or the ends will become heavy and might start to droop.
